Quebec translation guide
Translating a police certificate
The police certificate goes with most permanent residence applications and some work files.
Short answer
The translation must carry the whole document, including “no record” statements and administrative codes.
We translate the heading, issuing authority, issue dates, reference numbers, seals and notes on the back.
What we translate
- The certificate itself, every page
- Seals, stamps and revenue stamps
- Annexes of the same document, if any
What is checked
- The issue date, often time-limited by the institution.
- Name and date of birth identical to the passport.
- The authority that issued the certificate.
Files submitted in Quebec
If the certificate also serves a MIFI application, choose the OTTIAQ translation from the start: you avoid a second order.
We do not comment on the contents of the certificate: we translate it as it is.
Common mistake
Translating an expired certificate. Check the validity period the institution requires first.
Best next step
Choose “Police certificate” in the form and name the receiving institution.
