How to choose the right format

Three questions are almost always enough: who receives the document, what that institution requires in writing, and by when.

Short answer

The format is chosen by the receiving institution, not by the type of document.

The same birth certificate may need certified translation for IRCC, OTTIAQ translation for MIFI and notarized translation for a foreign consulate.

The three questions

  • Which institution is the document for?
  • What does its written instruction say about translation?
  • What is your deadline?

Quick landmarks

  • IRCC: certified translation, from $59, 1-2 days.
  • MIFI, professional orders, courts, SAAQ: OTTIAQ translation, from $99.
  • Consulates and foreign institutions: often notarized translation, from $99.

If the instruction is unclear

Send us the screenshot or the checklist from the institution. We read the requirement with you before opening the order.

An incomplete translation is refused more often than one in the “wrong” format.

Common mistake

Choosing the format by price. The format follows the institution, and the price follows the format.

Best next step

Upload your documents and tell us where they are going: the quote states the format, price and turnaround.
