Names and dates: the same spelling in all your translations

A name spelled two ways can delay a file. How to keep names and dates identical across all your translated documents.

In an immigration file, a name or a date that changes from one document to another catches the officer’s eye. A few simple steps prevent it.

Use your passport as the reference

The passport is usually the reference for the Latin spelling of names. Enter that spelling in the “Name spellings and comments” field of the order form.

Order all documents together

When the birth certificate, marriage certificate and diploma are translated in the same order, names are spelled the same way everywhere.

Point out existing differences

If the spelling already differs between your original documents (old passport, maiden name, different transliteration), tell us in the comments. The translator follows what each original says and does not correct the documents.

Check before submitting

Review names, dates of birth and document numbers in each translation before sending it to the institution.
